Hey hey hey! Well, its that time of year again. The time you spend with friends, family, and overtime at the office... Oh start-ups - You sleigh me! Puns aside, I hope all you Dexrexians out there have a spendiferous Holiday Season. And be sure to take a breath! So they may be sold out of the GPS your girlfriend has been nagging for for the last 3 months and you waited till the last minute... There's another Best Buy 5 miles down the road! I may be projecting a little here, but I am sure SOME of you can relate.
Anywho, although we have been busy, I was able to set aside a little time and add some Holiday cheer to our homepage. Its not much, but its the thought that counts...
Oh, and did I mention I made you all an E-CARD! YEA, I did. Here's the link - www.dexrex.com/happyholidays. Its just a little something that combines all the things I care for most - Good times, Dexrex, and DINOSAURS. (You can also get to the movie by clicking the big holiday pic on the homepage).
So, in closing, make sure all you Dexer's take it easy these next couple weeks. Well... I mean, you don't have to take it easy on the eggnog and New Years Champagne... But in general, kick your feet up and relax 8)
Happy Holidays,
Dexrex Dan
Welcome!

Time: Not On Our Side
Several older versions of our Windows Extensions application are experiencing a problem with obtaining the time from NIST. For the first time in the over three years we have been running Dexrex, NIST is reporting that it may be off by as much as five whole seconds! This is causing problems in some really old dorm room code that was kicking around in the bowels of the app. Those running older versions (version 5.306 and below) will see a delay of around 24 hours between when they send their messages and when they appear on our website. To fix this immediately, upgrade to the latest version at our download page. Otherwise, we expect that NIST's time servers will sort themselves out within a week, and things will return to normal. Sorry for any inconvenience!

Servers Upgraded
Dexrex is now on faster servers! The service was down from 4:00AM to 3:00PM EST on Dec 3rd, 2008. Parts of the service were up for some internet providers as early as 7:00AM EST. No messages were lost and Dexrex transfered to the new hardware without incident. Enjoy!

Server Upgrade
On Dec 3rd, 2008 from 4AM to 6AM EST the Dexrex service will be down to move to our new hardware platform. Hooray! I've been measuring speed increases of up to 50x on the website, and we'll be able to archive up to 1000 messages per second. Note that your messages will be queued locally on your devices during this time, and that no messages will be lost, although your devices will complain that they can't connect to our service during the upgrade time window.
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!
