Another sneak peek...

We will be adding a new section to Dexrex in the coming weeks which will be found at 'fun.dexrex.com'. Here we will be showcasing comics, music, videos, and Dexrex Shares. The initial work displayed will be work done by the myself and the staff here at Dexrex along with the two winners from the 'Dexrex Sponsored Art Competition'.

There will be a 'submit' section where users of Dexrex can enter work to be displayed on fun.dexrex. I will post again on our blog when the page is up and running. If you want to submit something when the site is finished... Get crackin! We would love to start getting submissions right away.

More to come!

Intern's Dexrex Experience

My past couple of months at Dexrex have flown by. I can’t believe that my semester is winding down and I will be heading back to the greater Boston area. Unfortunately, that means my job at Dexrex will be taking a hiatus for the summer. I have learned so much about start-up companies, the IM industry, legality surrounding the instant messaging, and have seen so much progress within the company. Daily, Dexrex is coming up with innovative ideas surrounding new ways to use instant messaging. I have never seen such dedicated support around a product. The success for Dexrex revolves around the Dexrex team. Without the team, the product wouldn't be what it is. I have worked in many heartless corporate environments and have never seen the commitment that Dexrex brings to the industry.

Now, Dexrex is extending their product to mobile devices, different messengers, and what I am most excited about--Apple. The creative imaginations, developers, and focused management of Dexrex have enabled us to make progress towards these new concepts.

I will miss the daily casual Fridays, the 80s rock music, my certificate of recognition, and being able to actually contribute an idea without worrying how management will perceive it. That is what I love most about Dexrex—they are willing to try a new concept, constantly trying new concepts, they interpret ideas to make them work for the product, and show that they appreciate their employees and users. These people are not the “Bill Lumbergh” and “Michael Scott” of Office Space and The Office; these are guys who have put their attention to creating a company and are now working to make it grow. Dexrex is changing the corporate environment from one that is cold and dry, to something more intimate and rewarding.

I am so happy to be part of this company and can’t wait to be back again in the fall. Yay Dexrex!

Evangelizing the Masses

I recently took over the "Evangelist" position at Dexrex, and what better way to make it official than with a blog post?

What does it mean to be an Evangelist? My job is to spread the word, and spread it loud!  So if I'm doing my job right, you'll be hearing a lot more about Dexrex over the next couple of months.  We've been stealthy long enough -- it's time for some hardcore SEO, a little whispering to the blogosphere, and a lot of talking to the rest of the world.

Our first round:

We're also starting to reach out to a few other places, so I hope we'll be posting big news here soon!

Sign in & Lockdown changes

You asked for it, and we've built it -- you don't have to sign up for a Dexrex ID anymore. In fact, you can't sign up for a Dexrex ID. As of this release, all you need to sign in is a working IM account. No mess, no fuss.

"But what if I have a weak password on my IM account?" you ask. That's okay, we've added a new feature called Lockdown. It doubles your security by doing two things:

  • You choose a primary screen name to sign in from. Even if you link other screen names to your account, you'll have to login from the primary screen name.
  • In addition to a password, you'll also have a Security Question. This question will come up after you log in with your IM screen name, and must be answered before you're fully logged in to Dexrex.

We're pretty happy with this new sign-in process, and we hope you are too!

Not ecstatic? Loving lockdown? Either way, let us know.
