In the News

Today Dexrex was featured in the arts and living section of the Daily Collegian, our local student serving paper.

I really love the fact that we're in the arts and living section. In my opinion, it's so much better than general news.

Thanks Skye, great piece!

Bilotta Release Schedule

For Those Who Have Forgotten: Rumors were floating around this summer of a mysterious person training and being slapped around at the Tuck School of Business in the remote woods of New Hampshire... Finally on July I appeared and things got really loud. Yes, you guessed it... It's Barrett Bilotta. After finally giving into the pressures of technology, I am posting my first blog. And, it seems to be perfectly timed because I'll return from training with the U.S. Army soon. In fact you will see me on 18 FEB 2008 at 0530 instructing daily P.T. This will be mandatory for all Dexrex employees Monday through Friday! No no I'm just kidding, (I bet Nick just spit out his drink when he read this) no PT. However, I am going to make Derek a nicer person. And, the office may get louder by approximately 10-15 decibels due to massive amounts of excitement and intense conversation. On a more serious note, I do want everyone to know that I am extremely excited to come back and work with the team.

For those who have been living on the moon for the past 6 months, you might not know where I have been. The real question is actually where haven't I been? Been doing some ARMY Training..HOOOAH... I started on Sept 1st where I reported to Fort Benning GA. I was there for 8 weeks, then I reported to Aberdeen Proving Ground MD. That's where I am now. Fort Benning is the home of the U.S. Army Infantry. Everyone is angry and pissed off with huge wads of dip in their mouths. Aberdeen Proving Ground is where the U.S. Army tests all of its equipment and explosives. They have research labs and explosive tests sites, so all we hear is explosions. It's pretty cool, I could see Derek working here later in life for fun, just blowing stuff up.

Tomorrow I go out into the field and will have no means of communication with the outside world. They are giving us 180 privates fresh out of Basic training and we have to run combat operations with them. It should be pretty interesting.  I will be 1st Platoon leader, but I'm not sure what we're going to do. It will probably involve some kind of mission or a patrol. Anyways, if you see Derek pacing around nervous and being angry, its probably because he is upset he can't talk to me (or at least I hope that's the reason). So when you see this just give him a Hershey's kiss or if he is on a low carb diet feed him a piece of cheese and he will feel much better.

OK, I have rambled on long enough. In closing I want to say that I have heard many great things about what the team is doing. I am extremely proud to come back and work side by side with dedicated and bright people such as yourselves. I look forward to becoming closer with everyone and I know that we are going to have many good times in the near future. Just ask Derek about all of the Boy Scout outings we went on together. I have no more to say, but I will post again soon. Godspeed!
BB

New Movies!

These are the first of many new movies to come. Rick interrupted us when we were filming, so that is what one is about, the other is some internet humor for ya. Enjoy!

Scribe Release 5.100a

A new version of Scribe was released last night, as some of you may have noticed. The most conspicuous addition is the Pidgin plugin, which supports AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and Jabber. It was built against Pidgin 2.3.1, so if you are running an older version of Pidgin you may have to update. Also included is a fix to the Windows XP shutdown problem that existed in version 5.001a, thank you to those who reported this bug.

We are working towards removing the network monitor portion of the application, which is responsible for most of Scribe's CPU requirements. It will be banished as soon as we release plugins for Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger. In the meantime, if the Trillian, AIM, and Pidgin plugins adequately cover your IM usage, simply uninstall the WinPCap library. This will disable the network monitor functionality of Scribe, providing a significant performance increase. The downside is that messages sent or received with Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, and AIM Classic will no longer be recorded.

Time for me to get back to work on those other plugins. Look for their release sometime in the next couple weeks.

Website Release 071225

Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays :) We managed to keep working through the festivities and have a series of things that are being rolled out this week.

So far we've got a new analytics interface. It is easier to use now, and is expandable to include all the other crazy socialytics and other goodness. Is that a word? Also Timezones and other small bugs have been fixed. For the most part, timezones are being displayed correctly now.

In the near future we will be expanding the analytics package, Scribe support (as always, poor Nick), better activity feed, plus new website features like message and account deletion, conversation splitting and merging...ohh the list goes on.

I think we should pick our next swag item. The T-Shirts went off pretty well. Maybe a Dexrex custom lipstick color...yeah.
